At Smile Hub Dental Clinic, we do bone grafts for dental implants.
It's possible that there isn't enough jawbone in your mouth to sustain a dental implant. If a tooth was extracted a long time ago before a dental implant was put in, this is more frequently the case. In such cases, we can restore bone that has already been lost due to tooth extraction. For various circumstances, we provide a variety of bone grafting options.Atraumatic tooth extraction, socket preservation, and bone grafting
We take the time and effort to remove your teeth with little to no disruption to the surrounding bone if you need to have a tooth extracted and are thinking about getting dental implants. In order to offer greater support for your future implant, we prefer to retain and support all of the surrounding bone. A Preservation Socket The day of the tooth extraction can also be used to deliver a bone graft. Following tooth extraction, the empty socket is filled with bone graft material to help maintain bone volume and architecture until your implant installation.Bone Regeneration with Guidance
On the same day as implant implantation, this short and easy operation is performed. During surgery, the bone is inserted around the implant to provide superior long-term support for your implant as well as a more aesthetically pleasing gum line contour. This process is often referred to as a "Sinus Lift." The maxillary sinuses are hollow areas above the upper back teeth's roots, behind the cheeks. In some cases, when upper back teeth were removed for a lengthy time prior to implant implantation, the sinuses could descend into the area where the root formerly was. The sinus would need to be raised back into its original position and kept there using a bone substitute in order to place an implant at such a spot. An internal sinus lift or a lateral sinus lift can be used to accomplish this.
Bone graft/internal sinus lift
An internal sinus lift can be performed concurrently with implant placement if there is enough bone for implant stabilisation. The sinus is accessed through the same site where the implant will be placed, and after the implant site has been prepared, the sinus is lifted, and bone graft materials are implanted without further bone disturbance. This quick and easy treatment avoids more involved surgery.Bone graft and Lateral Sinus Lift
When a lateral sinus lift is necessary, a small access point is made in the wall where the upper back teeth once were for this treatment. The bone graft material is inserted to keep the sinus membrane in its newly elevated position after the sinus membrane has been exposed and lifted. Before placing the implant, good healing must take place throughout this operation.Rounded Bone Grafting
When the ridge is too thin for an implant, this method is used. When enough ridge height is needed for this treatment, bone graft material is added to the ridge to enlarge it and make room for implant implantation.Cortical Onlays Bone Graft
When there has been a more significant loss of bone, an onlays cortical bone graft is used. A small block of bone is extracted from the chin or the region behind the lower wisdom teeth for this type of bone graft, and it is fastened to the location where the implant will eventually be placed. Once the region has healed, an implant that has the necessary bone support can be inserted.Grafting materials for bone
We have a variety of bone replacements that we can employ for your bone graft. We can use your own bone from another location, or occasionally we can get the bone from the implant hole. Bone manufactured synthetically or from animal derivatives can be used. With your input, we can decide which of these possibilities is best for you.
